Matters Arising: Mike ZL1BNB
to be reimbursed $20 for book binding.
Junk Sale: ZL2AHR reported on the Junk Sale. He thanked
all involved, making particular mention of the Westpac ladies. He
was very happy with the venue and the meeting approved
rebooking hall. Ian Stephens, the auctioneer, would be happier in the middle
of the hall. Seating will be altered next year to meet this
requirement. ZL2MA asked for a report on the Junk Sale figures.
ZL2RR
obliged. Overall profit was $1257. Some
general discussion followed regarding such things as the lower prices
being paid for junk; the confusion over the distribution of the
second half of the catalogue; what to do with passed-in items and how
long we hang on to items left behind.

National System Project Report: ZL1BNB , Mike
has still to get the stainless steel for the antennas. He also took issue with ZL2JEL over a letter John had sent to Doug Ingham,
ZL2TAR
. Mike explained the delays in implementing our Nat Sys repeater
were in part caused by the seventy frequency allocations which Doug had
had to sort out and also by Mike and Jim having to fit the project into
their own time. Mike encouraged John and others
to consult the trustees in the first instance if there were any
concerns. ZL2MA
, David commented on the original wide area coverage plan that we had
toyed with. Mike explained how the FMTAG process works and assured
the meeting that he has a good working relationship with Doug
Ingham.
General Business:
1. ZL2AHR advised the
meeting that Brian ZL2AFW has moved QTH
after 66 years at his Castlecliff home.
2. Jeff,
ZL2THO
reported his findings after a cursory inspection of the club's
Codan power supply. With no manual or circuit
diagram to go by, it appears to be OK. Jeff expressed a desire to have a second opinion
given and to this end Doug ZL2PIH
offered to look at the PS. All this stems from a concern raised by Jason, ZL2FT
that
the TS 430 was exhibiting symptoms of poor PS regulation on full TX. ZL2THO moved and ZL2RR
seconded that the committee investigate the purchase of a
second heavy duty PS. The rationale is to give greater flexibility
of equipment usage on field days and to provide backup in case of one PS
failing. Carried.
3. ZL1BNB
reported that the Wellington VHF Group is prepared to long term loan Ch39
ATV repeater equipment to interested parties in an effort to populate
these bands. He asked if we as a club were
interested in setting up a local ATV repeater.
4.
Conference report by David, ZL2MA
. David gave a rundown on the highlights of the recent
annual conference held in New Plymouth. The NP mayor had opened
the conference and an address was heard from the Australian
President.
A humourous
address was given by Richard Rountree. The NZART sub has been held. Some discussion
centred on MED licence fees took place. The annual ham
licence fee is rescindered for at least the next 12 months with a possible move
to a repeater based fee only. Discussion also covered the problem of
attracting people to the ham ranks. At the AREC forum it was revealed that CD and SAR
didn't ask for ham help because we don't have the personnel holding some
required unit standards.
Meeting closed at 2040.
ZL1BNB put on a video about code usage during
WW2.
