Minutes of the monthly meeting of the Wanganui Amateur
Radio Society Inc., Branch 48 NZART, at the held at
Hunters and Stalkers Hall,100 Peat St.
Wanganui on Monday 4 September 2006 at 1930 hrs.

Present: President Jim, ZL2KR. Acting Secretary Barry ZL2RR + 8 members

Visitors: ZL2THO, ZL2JC, ZL2MD and Mathew Whittington, ZL2TDI, ZL2ACE, ZL1BNB

Apologies: ZL2THO, ZL2JC, ZL2MD and Mathew Whittington, ZL2TDI, ZL2ACE, ZL1BNB

Minutes: Were read and confirmed. (ZL2FT – ZL2BGE)

Matters Arising: ZL2RR questioned why, not for the first time, a Committee Meeting was held without notification to the Branch Treasurer.
ZL2RR commented that he gets fed up with the poor print we get through contamination causing degradation of the final newsletter product but the price is right. ZL2MA suggested that we purchase a new photocopier but it was pointed out that these cost plenty! Commercial copying would approximately double the cost to the Society. The Editor said he has no interest in a mixture of e-mail/hard copy distribution.

Correspondence:
IN: Q-Bit

OUT: Nil

Acceptance of correspondence: (ZL2BGE – ZL2FT)

Accounts: Cheque sent to Rakon for STSP repeater crystals

AREC report: ZL2FT reported on a radio Test at 9.00am on Sunday 27 August. The ZK Prefix has been given to NZART to issue to AREC, with the present ZL6E calls to be retired. Two 5 Meg frequencies have been made available for AREC use

Repeater reports:
690: Nil

STSP: Finally, an order had been placed for the required crystals

National System Project Report: ZL2KR reported that not a lot had happened. He had finished the fabrication of the antenna fittings

General Business:

1. Leo ZL2BGE, as Trustee of Wanganui 690, reported on the carry-ons of Br 06’s Secretary in relation to his requesting NZART Council, as licence holder for the Central District two metre repeaters, to grant him full autonomy over the nominated frequencies during the up-coming Day Breaker Rally. NZART Council had straightened the gentleman out and Leo reported on correspondence that he had handled as a result.

2. Members discussed the proposal that the Society purchase an MFJ antenna analyser. There was no support for this proposal as they could see no justification for such a large outlay. It was recommended that any person requiring help should ask as there is some expertise as well as equipment amongst members. Moved ZL2BGE, seconded ZL2FT that the matter lie on the table sine-die. Carried.

There being no further business, the meeting was closed at 2015.
