Minutes of the monthly meeting of the Wanganui Amateur
Radio Society Inc. Branch 48 NZART held in the
Hunters and Stalkers Hall, 100 Peat St,
Wanganui at 1930 hrs on Monday 2nd February, 2009.

Presiding: President Jason ZL2FT with Acting Secretary Barry ZL2RR

Minutes: Were read and confirmed.

Matters Arising:

Vote of thanks to Pat and Ivan ZL2ATU for their hosting of the 2008 Christmas gathering

Correspondence:

IN: Te Puke Junk Sale notice, Q Bit and a letter of resignation from all elected and appointed positions in the Branch from ZL2THO.

Matters Arising from ZL2THO’s letters:

After discussion on the vacant Secretary’s position, moved ZL1BNB, Seconded ZL2RR that Phil ZL2NJ be elected to the position of Secretary, Br 48. Carried.

Trustees 690 Wanganui.

Two Trustees required. Rob ZL2AN accepted appointment as a Trustee of this repeater.
Mike ZL1BNB offered to fill the vacant second position and was duly appointed.

General Business:

1. Trustee Mike commented on the National System equipment and fellow Trustee Phil ZL2NJ informed of a VK controller which had a good name. 9875 was still suffering from receive-audio drop-out from time to time.

2. Ivan ZL2ATU displayed a copy of his new Rag Chewers Award featuring a cartoon drawn by Jim Hubbard, designer of our Cats Whisker ‘icon.’ After discussion on whether or not the club wanted to adopt the Award, Ivan was left to weigh up his options as comment was passed that the Branch 48 logo should appear on the certificate. Ivan said this was not possible as he had signed off on the finished job.

3. Bob, ZL2AAQ, commented on some very interesting items contained in recent Cats Whiskers and complimented the Editor.

4. President Jason informed that he was pursuing the matter of some publicity for the Society and was very hopeful that a reporter from the Chronicle would visit his shack in the near future.

5. Ivan, ZL2ATU reported that, because of the dearth of interest in the upcoming National Field Day, he had pulled the plug on his efforts to set up a club station.

6. Ivan ZL2ATU spoke of his appreciation of the certificate Russell ZL2AXN produced and presented to Peter ZL2JJ at our Christmas gathering.
